Changes

TJJROTC.com is transitioning to a different platform in order to make it easier for the Battalion Publicity Officer to keep you informed about the 8th Battalion.

I’ve been contemplating this for some time, but wanted to wait until the end of the school year in order to keep the disruptions as minimal as possible.  Thanks for your understanding.

“Welcome be ye that are here, Welcome all, and make good cheer, Welcome all, another year.”

Happy New year! I hope everyone had a wonderful break and an excellent start to the new year! I hope everyone is enjoying their new classes as well. JROTC is off to a kickin’ start with our Applebee’s pancake breakfast. We loved seeing all the family’s and teachers who came out to support us. Let’s make this a long standing tradition shall we?

However even as we head into another wonderful year of JROTC, we must also become more focused on our impending inspection. Keep your uniform tight. Work on your bearing. Listen to you commanders and keep up with the marching. Try practicing at home. Staff we need to work as a well-oiled machine. Let’s make 2012 a year to celebrate and remember!

We are also going full speed towards the Military Ball. The ball is going to be on March 2. Ticket Prices will be announced. So Let’s work hard then Party down!!  Woo Hoo!

December 2011

HAPPY HOLIDAYS CADETS! Have fun celebrating with you family’s this winter! But first to get some business outta the way. Finals are coming up and I know everyone is very excited about that. I’m confident everyone here will do well. We also have our annual Ham Shoot. Our winners got a large ham, a small ham, or a ham sandwich. Of course not everyone was happy with this. Some of our coaches and administrative staff took offense. Oh well. Better luck next time.  We also get to look forward to our pancake breakfast, hosted by Applebee’s in January. Also congrats to our rifle team for going down to the Olympic training center for your competition, you all looked great out there.

On a more serious note, if you plan on not coming back to JROTC next semester please make sure your turn in you completed uniform. It is very important to both parties we get that back. You don’t want it on your record and we want to be able to use for other people. Also everyone please try your very hardest on your finals. I know they seem stressful but you want to do well. Having to redo things is a pain.

Also sell sell sell those Applebees tickets! This is a really simple and yummy fundraiser. We want everyone to participate. Staff and company leaders it is mandatory for you to be there.

Happy Holidays everyone!

{jcomments on}Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.

And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,

Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,

Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow

Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,

I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.

More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,

And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

“Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!

On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!

To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!

Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!”

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,

When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.

So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,

With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof

The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.

As I drew in my head, and was turning around,

Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,

And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.

A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,

And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!

His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!

His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,

And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,

And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.

He had a broad face and a little round belly,

That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,

And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,

Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,

And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.

And laying his finger aside of his nose,

And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,

And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.

But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,

“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!”

November 2011

Happy turkey month cadets! Gobble Gobble. We have a very eventful month. Our scheduled Veterans Day parade was unfortunately canceled however we can look forward to a nice Thanksgiving break.  Let’s all also wish good luck to our battalion commander Mo Miller as she heads down to represent us at the Windsor Gardens to compete for the title of Military Ball queen! Good luck fearless leader! Speaking of competitions lets talk about our Rifle teams Shoot off on the 15th of November. Good luck guys.  Finally our Color Guard got a glowing review:

The Thomas Jefferson High School Color Guard did an outstanding job at our Veterans Day Breakfast.  It was a high-profile event, with the Governor of Colorado, Deputy Mayor, and other elected officials all commenting on the professionalism and patriotism shown by these Cadets.  Thank you for your efforts in helping in the mission of Veterans Green Jobs!”
